The Urinary Tract Infection Kit (UTIK) includes:

SMZ/TMP DS (Sulfamethoxazole 800mg/Trimethoprim 160mg Double Strength) #20 (indicated as first round therapy for UTI. Sulfur based drug that may leave you susceptible to burning from the sun easier)

Note: If the patient is allergic to sulfur, we can substitute a viable alternative antibiotic.

Nitrofurantoin 100mg capsules #20 (indicated to treat UTI if SMX/TMP therapy fails or as first round therapy. This antibiotic is made specifically to address urinary tract infections and should always be taken with food)

Phenazopyridine 200mg tablets #12 (this pain reliever is made specifically to address urinary tract pain and may discolor urine orange or red)

Diflucan 150mg #4 (indicated to treat two rounds of vaginal yeast infection)

Many times the first round of UTI therapy fails because the bacteria causing the infection may have become resistant to that particular antibiotic. We circumvented this problem by providing two rounds of UTI therapy in the event that the first line of therapy fails. If the first line of therapy (SMZ/TMP) does not fail, another UTI may be treated on a future date with the nitrofurantoin therapy. We have also provided two rounds of medication for UTI pain (phenazopyridine), as well as two rounds of vaginal yeast therapy (fluconazole), in the event of yeast infection after antibiotic therapy.
